about

As an artist currently living and working in Houston, Texas, I was born in a small town in northwest Ohio in 1969.  I earned my BFA in painting, drawing and printmaking from The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio in 1992.  Upon graduation I worked first for CM/SNP Printing, a local newspaper print shop.  Then for Airwaves Inc. a t-shirt design silk screen printing manufacturer for ten years. I estimate I produced over 12 million images during my tenure.  Upon the advice of my sister Amie, I applied and was accepted to the University of North Texas in 2003, with a portfolio that included handmade photo-mosaics and sculpture, of which included a once former couch re-configured as a chair and covered in 905,000 staples.  I completed my studies and earned my MFA in drawing and painting in 2006.

I began being represented in Dallas, Texas by Holly Johnson Gallery prior to my exit from school.  Having the north Texas market secured, I ventured to Houston to expose the work to new people in a locale.  I found a live/work space at Commerce Street Artists' Warehouse (CSAW) which closed in 2008.  While there I worked with galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Marfa Texas and Bradbury Gallery at Arkansas State University.  In total I had 7 solo shows and 41 group showings from 2006-2008.

After the shutdown of CSAW, I moved to a small one bedroom apartment 20 miles north of Houston.  It is there where I currently live and work.  Since the autumn of 2008, I have been represented by 2 galleries in Houston, currently Nicole Longnecker Gallery, one in Los Angeles, Diane Rosenstein Fine Art and most recently, Wally Workman Gallery in Austin, Texas, along with HJG in Dallas.  Since the latest move, I have had  15 solo shows and been a part of 60 group shows.  Additionally I have been a finalist for the Hunting Art Prize, awarded by Hunting PLC, 3 times (2009, 2012, 2014.)
